"Where we live. How we Live. What we've Lived" was the theme for Mental Health Week WA 2022. Offering a prime opportunity to explore the connection between social determinants and mental health.
Jamiela had the pleasure of presenting to the team at HHG on the topic of Mental Health & Resilience to assist in providing research based strategies to better understand how to body, mind and environment intersect and contribute to overall wellbeing. Particularly in light of these unprecedented times.
Panelist & Guest Presenter - ADHD WA Conference 2024
Jamiela was invited as a guest speaker and panelist for the ADHD WA Conference 2024, themed "Pills Don’t Teach Skills." During her presentation, Jamiela explored the neuroscience of ADHD and organization, highlighting the importance of neuroplasticity in strengthening the ADHD brain. She also discussed effective psychological treatments to improve organizational skills, including mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral strategies, developing a growth mindset, and fostering self-compassion and self-acceptance.
As a panelist, Jamiela participated in a discussion on ADHD and allied health, focusing on the crucial role of allied health professionals in supporting ADHD treatment and optimising outcomes through comprehensive, holistic care plans.
Presentation on Sexual Harassment in workplace & Family& Domestic Violence - Agriprove (Agricultural Technology Company) -2024
Jamiela was approach by Agriprove to present on the important topic and social issue of family and domestic violence (FDV) and sexual harassment in the workplace. The presentation included understanding FDV, dispelling myths, misconceptions, prevalence, coersive contol, FDV in the workplace, and in interpersonal relationships, impacts of FDV, identifying forms of sexual harassment, stress and trauma responses, protective strategies, gender appropriate responses to SH & FDV, self care and accessing supportive resources.
ADHD WA - Community of Professional Presentation on the intersection between complex trauma and ADHD -2024
The informative and thought provoking presentation included an overview of ADHD and complex trauma, introduction to EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing), Schema therapy and DBR (Deep Brain Reorienting) in the treatment of ADHD and complex trauma. Exploring the benefits and challenges of an integrated approach and considerations for complex clinical presentations.
